The Coonhound: This is a piece about a mother's strength and how she is memorialized in her absence. I wrote it with my ancestors in mind. Mangoes: Written during my time working the mango dessert stand at a farmer's market, when my hands were always sticky, this piece is meant to represent nostalgia and the bad side of sweet things. Children of Stars: This piece stemmed from my Chemistry class. Learning about our connection to stars made me feel so alone and so incredibly human.

To me, creativity is an outlet for emotion. It can be so exhausting to carry big emotions around, but my art is fueled by them. When I write or draw, I hope to capture the things I'm feeling, and possibly connect to someone else.
