The Harpy and the 7 Sward

Alexandra B.

Oil on canvas

  • This is a painting of a harpy (from Greek mythology) perched on top of a sword. The seven swords depicted in the painting represent new beginning and end of an old cycle. The sun above the icy landscape represents hope in times of fear and destruction. The centerpiece of the painting is the harpy, who represents regaining of power and strength. Ultimately, the point of the painting is to express regaining of one’s power in times of lack of control over their own life.

  • To me, the term “creativity” means the ability to imagine something that hasn’t been made/done before.
