The Life They Lived.

My painting is a painting of breccia, which is formed when lava erupts explosively, causing pieces of rock to break off a volcano and scatter. When the lava flows down, it picks up these pieces and cements them together into new rock as it cools. This rock is breccia, rough like sandpaper and filled with broken fragments of other rocks. I painted this because I felt like this can be a metaphor to how my family was when fleeing Cambodia due to war. There were many lost relatives acting as these small pieces of rock scattered around lost & cemented together when they were finally reunited again.
