The Light in the Piazza

Samara C.

  • I love singing pieces that challenge me. With The Light in the Piazza, I have to work to hit those high notes while additionally capturing the emotions and making it sound lyrical and sweet. That is what I find beautiful about performing, that you can make something difficult look effortless to an audience. Throughout my creative process of singing, I try to make the viewer believe that they have intruded on a private personal moment. In doing so, it creates connection between the performer and the audience which is what music is all about.

  • Creativity means being able to convey complex emotions to others. Creativity is vulnerable; it means wearing your heart on your sleeve. Singing is an incredible way to be creative because each voice has a unique sound, allowing for endless possibilities.
