the morning after/felled angel/when i'm naked

Juno P.

  • These three pieces explore teenage lust and the emotional confusion that can follow intimate experiences. In school, sex education focuses on the physical risks of being intimate, such as pregnancy, protection, STDs. However, nobody ever speaks to the emotional impact these actions can have on you. No one prepares you for the guilt, the uncertainty, or the way your body can remember things you wish it didn’t. With these poems, I capture those moments when desire mixes with regret, when someone takes more from you than you meant to give, and when closeness ends up feeling isolating instead of comforting. Writing these pieces helped me to process the parts of growing up that are messy, shameful, and usually not talked about. These three poems demonstrate how easily boundaries can blur when you’re young, and how important it is to understand the emotional side of intimacy.

  • To me, creativity is the ability to put your emotions and vulnerabilities into an artistic outlet, in a way that can touch an audience and connect people's experiences.
