Dark Red

Matteo B.

  • Dark Red explores themes and feelings of violence, jealousy, grief and misery as they are all manifested and interlaced through the suffering of one person. In the poem lies not only a story and narrative that progresses but also a shift in color; as the story evolves, the color palette of red slowly gets darker, expressing the change in morality, a dimming of the spirit as the ghost torments her guilt-ridden killer. Readers will be left to ponder whether or not his revenge was truly worth it if it meant he would have to run from his past, one impossible to forget and not look back upon.

  • To me creativity is everything that is uniquely human, unrepeatable by any other being but a human. To be creative is to sense aspects of life and bridge those feelings to create something new.
