• Artist Statement

  I chose to write about this because it’s something that I've never really opened up on and I thought that maybe other people could relate to the situation I'm in. At first I had a rough draft where I just wrote my story and what it was like to have an absent parental figure and then I summarized it in a poem way. This process was new to me. I've never talked about my life in the way I did with this poem. I was a little emotional while writing this because I’m not the type of person to share my life in the way I did. I’m very proud of myself for expressing myself with writing.
