The Voices That Raised Us honors two cultural icons, Erykah Badu and Tupac Shakur, whose words and music continue to inspire and uplift generations. Both represent strength, authenticity, and emotional truth qualities that connect deeply to community and self expression. Using colored pencils, I focused on creating warmth, depth, and realism to capture their energy and spirit. These portraits symbolize how art and music shape identity and bring people together. This piece celebrates the voices that helped raise us the ones that remind us to be proud, grounded, and free.

Creativity means expressing what words can’t. It’s turning emotions, culture, and memories into color and form something people can feel when they look at it.
