The Ways We Remember

Sky S.

  • This collection explores the intimate moments of love and grief and how they shape the ways we remember. Her Tulips turns to nature as a space where memory continues to live, drawing on grief and how a person's life continues on even after their death. Final Breath captures my personal experience of being present at the end of a life. Ya’aburnee uses an Arabic expression of longing to reflect on the vulnerability of caring for someone so deeply that imagining life without them becomes unimaginable. Together, these pieces consider how we hold on to the people we lose through our memory and the duality of life and death.

  • Creativity is being bold in the ways that you express yourself. Letting yourself go through any outlet is creativity, no matter how dark or ugly the product turns out to be.
