Tight Spaces is a reflection of my growth. At the time of creating the peace, I had recently started my healing journey. For years I have felt stuck between bricks (buildings, even) that weigh me down and made it impossible for me to get up. But here's the thing - they could never weigh down my mind, my passion, my creativity. The girl, while trapped between buildings, looks tearfully up at a breathtaking sunset. All is not lost, because the sky is still painted in brilliant oranges, purples, and blues. She knows she will get better. Retrospectively, I know she is right. She is me, and I did get better. Tight Spaces is a piece meant to show the beginning of an incredibly difficult journey, but one that will always be worth it.

Creativity helps me collapse my overwhelming feelings into tangible things that I can then either admire or put away. While I mostly do visual art, I also experiment with things like writing (short stories, poetry), and body movement. Creativity is what flows through my body to purify my soul.
