These are two poems written as I entered my junior year of high school. As you know, the United States is under an extremely difficult political environment at the moment. I felt that especially as a Latina of mixed heritage who is Puerto Rican that speaking up through artwork is so important. Both of these poems reflect where my mind is at right now in these times. I really wanted to think about being "together" in this unique way. Being together no matter what is happening and no matter who you are. Holding each other closely as we as the people take on this political climate. I hope my poetry makes you understand at least one place that a teenager is coming from right now. Thank you!

Creativity means that I am able to express who I am to fulfill each little part of my soul. Poetry really touches that. It is a way to feel a unique freedom. I can create, be an innovator, and learn from my creativity.
