Distorted Reflections: Waking to an Unfamiliar Familiar

Michelle C.

  • My essay tells the story of a character whose memories are stolen by a shadowy figure inspired by Alzheimer’s, symbolizing the way the disease erases someone’s past and sense of self. I focused on vivid imagery and sensory details to show the fear and confusion of losing cherished memories. Each scene was imagined like a cinematic sequence to highlight both suspense and emotional impact. Through this story, I hope readers feel the fragility of memory and identity, and the struggle to hold onto the moments that make us who we are.

  • To me, creativity is turning ideas and emotions into something new and meaningful. It’s about seeing the world differently, expressing myself, and connecting with others in unexpected ways.
