Transcending Borders

In this print, I tried to find a way to represent the cultures from both sides of my family — I decided to depict this by showing the way that our culture has transcended maps and mixed together. The bear and elephant represent the prevalence of those animals in Taiwan and India, respectively. It was important to me that this was a single print rather than two separate ones because these two parts of me feel really blended and not very distinct from each other. While printing, I did a lot of experimenting with different colors.

Creativity to me means finding innovative ways of showing my ideas using new and exciting mediums. I hadn't done a lot of art before making these prints but I really enjoyed how the medium allowed me to be creative with the way that I expressed my ideas and feelings.
