I have been lucky to experience the beach and ocean throughout my life living in the Bay Area sailing in and around its waters. I created this piece to express the simplicity and calm of the ocean on surface level, compared to my perspective as a sailor. Being on the ocean, I am familiar with the river-like currents that flow underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, the incredible marine life, and the terrifying experience of being in heavy wind, huge waves, and disorienting fog in the middle of the Bay. I used this piece to express the contrast between the perfect calm and peace of the ocean that I see everyday compared to the undertow I know extends throughout the coast of California.

To me, creativity is the ability to think and express yourself in different mediums. It is the ability to realize new ideas and put them into ways I can understand and help others interpret.
