Yellow Yearning

I shot this photo using my Canon EOS R100 camera, and briefly edited it using Adobe Photoshop.

I took this photo in the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge. Vieques is a remote island off the coast of Puerto Rico, and the refuge is even more isolated, with one-lane, gravel paths. We had just parked our Jeep in a clearing on the side of the road when I saw a bright golden blur fly by. Freezing in my tracks, I carefully attached the telephoto lens to my camera, and then patiently waited for the Yellow Warbler to land on our neon yellow Jeep. The result was this photo, which reminds me of the way that humans and nature find ways to interact, even in the most secluded places.

To me, creativity is finding purpose and meaning in both the ordinary and the extraordinary. I strive to create photos that are visually creative, but highlight a message, too. I view photography as both a form of art and a way to memorialize moments with the people I love.
