Bay Area Creative Foundation Receives $25,000 Svane Family Foundation Culture Forward Grant for 2026 Creative Youth Celebration
SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, CA (May 13, 2026) - The Bay Area Creative Foundation (BACF) has been awarded a $25,000 Culture Forward grant from the Svane Family Foundation to support the 2026 Creative Youth Celebration, a free, public, day-long youth arts showcase taking place Saturday, June 27th at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
The Creative Youth Celebration (CYC) is the Bay Area’s largest high school arts event, bringing together young artists, families, educators, arts professionals, culture workers, and community leaders. Hundreds of attendees will enjoy a full day of exhibitions, screenings, performances, creative workshops, and connection across seven artistic disciplines, along with a keynote presentation by rapper, spoken word artist, and director, Ruby Ibarra.
The $25,000 grant will help BACF support creative professionals, community partners, student performers, activations, and day-of experiences while keeping the CYC free, accessible, and engaging for students, families, and the broader public.
Culture Forward is a $5 million Svane Family Foundation initiative supporting arts and culture projects in downtown San Francisco. The program is designed to activate downtown through bold, public-facing creative work that brings people together through arts and culture.
The Culture Forward grant reaffirms the CYC’s role in that broader effort. Through its partnership with YBCA, BACF is helping welcome young audiences and families into one of San Francisco’s legacy arts institutions while contributing to the city’s ongoing efforts to strengthen downtown as an arts and culture destination.
“The Creative Youth Celebration is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: young people’s creativity deserves to be encouraged, showcased and celebrated by the community,” said Lani Rovzar, Executive Director of the Bay Area Creative Foundation. “We’re grateful to the Svane Family Foundation for recognizing the importance of supporting creative experimentation and practice in the next generation of artists. This investment is fundamental to renewing the cultural vibrancy of downtown San Francisco and Culture Forward’s gift allows us to grow the event, keep it free and accessible, and invest directly in the artists, partners, and creative professionals who make the day so meaningful.”
Held during San Francisco Pride weekend, the CYC will offer an open, family-friendly event, including a live screen printing activity outside the YBCA’s main entrance and free access to the powerful current exhibit, Conjuring Power: Roots & Futures of Queer & Trans Movements.
The grant also underscores the importance of investing early in artistic exploration, original thinking, and the Bay Area creative economy. By creating opportunities for young artists to connect with peers, arts leaders, and professionals, the CYC helps strengthen the creative pathways that support future artists, storytellers, innovators, and cultural leaders.
The 2026 Creative Youth Celebration is free and open to the public. It will take place on Saturday, June 27th from 12-5pm at YBCA (701 Mission Street San Francisco, CA 94103). Registration is now open at www.creativeyouthawards.org/2026cyc.
