All the Stars reflects my interest in merging different musical styles. I wrote it in a jazz lead sheet format, with lyrics and chord changes. I wanted to write a simple melody that can be experimented with. Some of my lyrics were based on a poem I wrote because I really like that songs can be poetry and music combined. I improvised over a chorus in the song because I play jazz piano and wanted to highlight that. For the audio of All the Stars, this was a chance to try out a higher quality recording system that I learned to mix using Logic Pro. I recorded a video on top of the audio and lined them up to create a music video “performance”. It was a fun process that helped me learn more about song and music production.

Creativity is the bridge between being able to dream something up and put it into a form of expression. To me, creativity is the language that allows me to put my thoughts into music. It is the ability to make - to fabricate songs that tell my stories and truths.
