Anxiety Over the Years

Charlotte L.

Oil Paint

  • This piece reflects a deeply internal feeling of dread and fear: anxiety, something I had been bottling up throughout the years. I decided to convey the evolution of my anxiety through the creative lens, portraying two versions of myself, a younger and present version. Wrapped around my younger self's neck is a python, a common animal symbol associated with feelings of anxiety. Placed in the background is a lone clock, indicating a sense of rapid movement and impatience within my artwork, contributing to the uneasiness. Mushrooms can be seem growing from the two figures, highlighting the decaying of my mental self over time.

  • Creativity to many people is deemed subjective. To me, it means the ability to create and freely express one's creative self through various artistic mediums, whether it is through crafting or sketching something, or even simply dancing or singing.
