I created this piece in response to an assignment focused on social issues, choosing to explore the consequences of the American diet. This year, I’m taking a food justice class and read a book over the summer about the American food industry, which inspired me to highlight how processed and fatty foods impact our health. The heart is modeled with relative anatomical accuracy, based on a 3D reference, and its arteries are intentionally packed with fatty foods to symbolize the buildup that occurs within our bodies.
