I created this piece for my Portuguese teacher who showed me what an everyday citizen can do when fighting for their dreams. Dreams can span across our lifetime, like Celeste Caeiro, a key figure of the fight for Portuguese Independence. My work shares the intent of time through the silhouettes, showing her life progression. Her dream of liberty accomplished through non-violence, is demonstrated through the red carnations, a Portuguese symbol for freedom. Furthermore, her dream of strength within a community is visualized by the rural Portuguese homes surrounding her. My work is a representation of the commitment it takes to achieve one's dream. A tribute to Celeste Ceairo, showcasing her dream, and the time to witness a community's freedom and independence peacefully. My work aims to shine light on female activists who are not emphasized in history, those who fight for access to opportunity and knowledge for their community.

Creativity means going beyond expectations and requirements. With my creativity I give back through painting murals in elementary schools and providing facepaint for events. My creativity shines through research on history to strengthen my ideas. I tell stories with my creativity searching to understand myself and the communities around me.
