Constant as the Rising of the Sun

I began this short story with the express intention of using third person to represent more than one character. For this, I used the fairytale staple of dragon and dragon-killer: easily generalized cliches that could be both amorphous and recognizable. I also took inspiration from Homeric epics — specifically, the temporally-removed glorification of monotonous war. The Greek concept of an age of heroes echoes throughout this piece! Emphasis on the growing season inciting change from equilibrium was similarly a (fictionalized) product of my fascination with pre-agrarian society. Other than that, a crucial theme in this story was cyclical, self-reinforcing tradition. What does it take to break from the cycle? What does it cost? (The title, too, is seemingly paradoxical: the sun is constantly moving.)

Creativity is an expression of the self. This is closely tied to art, which is an act of communication between the artist and the viewer. Especially in an age of AI, distinctive & creative writing is predicated on personalization!
