Childhood is both universal and deeply personal, shaping who we become while continually shifting as we revisit it over time. My work examines the instability of memory by contrasting a sharply rendered figure with an abstract environment. Using oil paint’s ability to be reworked and layered over time, I mirror the way each time we recall a moment we blend our past and present perspective. Children experience the world through raw emotion and curiosity, aware only of their immediate perception. Memories become spotlights with a vivid center focus and blurred edges. In this piece, the use of red emphasizes the distortion of what we remember. This invites viewers to question what in their own recollections is real, imagined, or transformed by feeling.

For me, creation is a form of thinking. It acts as a translator, helping me make sense of my thoughts and emotions. I learn about myself by observing what captures my attention. Through creativity, I develop ideas and express them, offering others a glimpse of the world through my eyes.
