Digital photography

  • After drinking nectar from a California fuchsia bloom, the hummingbirds that visit my garden pause before choosing a new flower, allowing me to observe and capture their beauty for a split second. To photograph the hummingbird, I used a mirrorless digital camera and a lot of patience. The Anna’s and Allen’s hummingbirds that visit my pollinator garden usually spend less than a minute feeding from various plants before darting back into the trees; then, I have to wait 15 to 30 minutes for the hummingbird to return again. Despite having photographed hummingbirds for over three years, I still feel wonder and excitement every time I see one of these incredible birds, and I tried to include these emotions in my work. I used Adobe Lightroom to lightly edit the photo.

  • To me, creativity is the ability to combine my experiences, emotions, thoughts, and observations into a unique work of art to evoke curiosity and inspiration in others.
