I used a camera, natural light, and a lantern to take a photo. I then edited the photo in Adobe Lightroom.

• Artist Statement

  This artwork was part of an assignment in which I utilized window light to create a strong contrast between shadows and highlights. The lantern itself was placed on my dining table and I closed the curtains until there was only a sliver of light coming from the window. I directed this minimal light onto the lantern to create a strong highlight against a dark background, creating heavy contrast and a dramatic feel. The lantern is one of the most intricate and beautiful lanterns I have, hence I decided to take a photo and highlight the beautiful carvings.

  Creativity means exploring your imagination and figuring out a way to represent that through different forms of art whether it is dance, music, painting, or photography. Creativity is a way of expressing one's uniqueness and feelings.
