This is a drawing of my pet, Lizzie (Lizard) Leapers (they can jump really far), who, despite the name, is in fact a crested gecko. Lizzie is almost 10 years old and when she is not eating a paste made of bugs and fruit or basking in her heat lamp she seems to enjoy hiding in her log. For this piece, I used colored pencils because of how well they capture small detail. Looking closely, it can be seen that I worked at outlining each groove in her skin and each notch in the wood. In this I piece tried to carefully replicate the complexities of her form and habitat despite her simple nature to accentuate the existence of limitless, yet often overlooked, intricacy within our daily lives.

To me, creativity is a medium through which personal or abstract experiences and ideas are expressed. Creativity leads to the creation of art, for me, drawing and painting which not only have assisted me in conveying abstract ideas but in developing and more patient, thoughtful, and attentive version of myself
