Wall Mounted Seashell Vase

Marie P.

Clay And Glazed Ceramic

  • Size: 9.5” x 8.5” x 2” Medium: Glazed Ceramic I created this functional piece in my senior year as a personal project. I wanted to build a vase for flowers that could be mounted on the wall as a solution for limited counter space. I focused on creating smooth, flowing features inspired by the curves of a real seashell, while also including slight irregularities to keep it feeling organic rather than manufactured. After the initial bisque firing, I continued to focus on experimenting with new glazing techniques, such as layering colors and shades. Not featured are the two holes on the backside for screws.

  • I use creativity in every aspect of my life: to understand myself, express feelings I can’t quite put into words, and escape and slow down. Creativity allows me to follow any curiosity I have and gives me the opportunity to solve problems visually, embracing mistakes along the way.
