  • ‘LOOK FOR THE S/GNS’ is my representation of suicide and self-harm awareness. This piece is special to me because I struggled with such topics throughout my life. It shows that even when you try to hide your struggles, there will always be signs that you need help. Even to the people who try their hardest to express that they’re struggling without directly saying it, I see you, and this piece is a reminder for people to recognize the call for help. Highlights that I want to notice are the drip of a semicolon from the box cutter hanging over the sink, and the razor blades alongside the bright toothbrush inside the drawer. This sculpture is so powerful to me that it still makes me uncomfortable when I look at it. Making this 1 year sober, and submitting it over 2, is unfathomable to me how far I’ve come.

  • Creativity to me means not only being able to think of original ideas, but also being able to communicate and problem-solve in your own way. I believe creativity is thinking for yourself and is a fundamental to a persons growth.
