My artwork, Los Zapateados de Resistencia, is a canvas painting layered on collaged posters, highlighting themes of resistance and cultural pride. Inspired by local protests fighting against Trump's deportations, I included posters with phrases: “we belong” and “viva la raza,” transforming the art into a symbol of resistance. On top, is a painting of myself performing Baile Folklorico to demonstrate the grace and elegance of the dance, paired with the posters of struggle and protest, highlighting the beauty and hardships one faces when being a part of a marginalized group. My art is a celebration of the migrants who have traveled to the United States and established lives here, bringing along their unique and beautiful culture. Even though we may face hate and discrimination, we belong here, we will keep living, working, and dancing here since THIS IS our home. We will keep fighting, never ashamed of who we are.

For me, creativity is expression. Stemming from the beauty and uniqueness within every person, creativity is exhibited through endless forms, including movement, music, creation, photography, and much more. It is a way to express your feelings, opinions, love, and voice.
