This sculpture uses a phoenix skeleton as an allegory for immigration and rebirth. The phoenix represents renewal and transformation, while the exposed skeleton symbolizes vulnerability, displacement, and the fragility of starting over in an unfamiliar environment. I was inspired by migrating animals as metaphors for survival, adaptation, and rebuilding identity in motion. I constructed the figure using a wire armature and clay modeling, unifying the materials with acrylic paint to emphasize the transition between destruction and new life. This piece reflects how transformation often begins in a state of uncertainty and exposure.

Creativity means the ability to showcase unique voices, to be able to represent the intersection of people's identities and make work others can find solace in.
