To Die

  • What is it to die? We all inevitably die. It seems as though those most impacted by death are the very ones who still live. Some yearn for death’s hand, while others desperately crawl away from it. I feared the word “death”—so much so that hearing the word made knots turn in my stomach. I feared the death of those I love, and the death of myself. Humans are the only species who have the ability of foresight, to see beyond the present and their evolutionary instincts. This double edged sword allows us to be greatly productive, yet also inescapably anxious. As we cling onto the inevitable, someway or another, we beg to it, live at its mercy. Are those hearts who no longer beat “dead,” or are we, the ones who are still warm, the ones who are truly “dead.”

  • Creativity is a physical representation of human evolution. Unlike most species, us humans have the leisure to create what’s beautiful, what’s inspiring, and what’s impactful. We build off of each other to create. Creativity is our originality, gradually nurtured from generations of people who have lived, died, and created.
