Seafoam Tides

Erika W.

  • “Seafoam Tides” gets its name from the layered textures in the instrumentation, mimicking foam that floats on the surface of ocean waves before washing onto shore. “Tides” in particular refers to the larger sections of the piece, within which lie numerous smaller contours of rising and falling pitches. Some sections may sound soothing while others may feel unnerving, but still the piece ebbs and flows with no clear destination or resolution, traveling through different musical phrases simply for the sake of the journey.

  • Creativity means being able to express abstract emotions and worlds in your head through the medium of your choice, whether it be an artistic medium or a nontraditional one (such as entrepreneurship).
