Sewn Together

Lilah A.

  • A couple of months ago, I wrote Sewn Together for my sister, my best friend, when she left home for college. Watching her struggle as she stepped into a new world was heartbreaking. I felt the distance stretching between us, and I struggled to preserve the closeness we’d always had. Those emotions became the spark behind this song. While the story eventually grew into something bigger than just us, the metaphors, symbols, and narrative are some of my most vulnerable writing. Sewn Together is a way of stitching love, fear, and nostalgia into something real. I hope listeners can feel that bond— its ache, its depth— and hear pieces of their own stories within it.

  • To me, creativity is a medium of connection, reflection, and communication. I express my creativity primarily through my passions in songwriting and jazz. Within these areas I play with poetry and melody to create something tangible that channel and communicate my emotions. With creativity, I connect to myself and others.
