• Artist Statement

  With this art piece, I wanted to embody the fact that I as a little girl always wanted to leave my home and explore the world. This is a photo of me when I was little, going on my first flight, for me it really signifies, my introduction into a world of possibilities, outside of my less than desirable home life. This is a vulnerable reflection of my current desires, that resonates even deeper as a teenager, where I am so close to exploring and discovering more opportunities for myself. This drawing is made mostly of crayons, a childhood favorite of mine. It was fun to revisit the main material, because it helped me reflect. The process was a piece over five days, when I most felt inspired.

  Creativity is the language I use to speak when words aren't enough. It allows me to translate my internal emotions into something tangible that others can experience, bridging the gap between my inner world and reality.
