The landform of my painting is the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and I chose it because I thought it was a powerful image to represent the strength and resilience of the Black Movements. These mountains are found in Yosemite Valley National park. My painting illustrates the metaphor subduction, which is a process that forms and shapes the land. It shows how justice is achieved by the black leaders of the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are also known as the Sierra Nevada Batholith. A batholith is an immense mass of rock that has formed from magma below the Earth’s surface that has cooled for millions of years. The justice achieved by Black movements is the Sierra Nevada Batholith, accomplishments rising up from a subducted plate, uplifting our people after we were pulled down by racism.

I believe creativity is a form of original ideas and has curiosity in certain things. Creativity can make you imagine things, and even become successful using it. I feel like there are many forms of creativity, and art is one of them.
