• Artist Statement

  This work is both a poem and work of fiction, although I think it functions best when viewed as a poem. This was originally an assignment for school, where I was asked to create a mood from descriptions of climate, ultimately to be incorporated into a short scene. Personally, I didn’t have any hesitations regarding my approach to writing this, but instead spent most of my time editing to ensure I was succinct and conveyed a clear tone, mood, and focus in this story.

• Creative Statement

  To me, creativity is a means of applying your experiences and knowledge artistically to create a better understanding of the human experience. I find that all creative works, character oriented or not, involve a human perspective and are a reflection of society. I thus write for to express myself creatively.
