Summer has always been an incredibly important time of year for me. It’s when my grandparents travel to California from Australia, and bring back a slice of the country my father calls home. Four weeks in July was once a promise. Four weeks spent telling stories and laughing at jokes. The house is full and happy. Unfortunately as I get older summer has become a gift rather than a promise. Every July has become more like every other July, and sometimes summer loses its luster. Every year I hold out hope that the summer will hold childhood's magic and fill my house with laughter again.

To me creativity is how I process emotion. It allows me to pour my thoughts onto a piece of paper and work through what I’m feeling through my writing.
