My work captures a childhood memory of two girls stealing a strawberry cough drop from a teacher’s desk, or perhaps three possible versions of how it might have happened. Some memories feel bold and funny, others feel tense or embarrassing. By repeating the scene with small twists, the story shows how memories can blur, shift, and even contradict each other. I wanted it to stay unclear which version is real because that confusion is part of growing up. The scenes aren’t balanced on purpose. The last version is the longest because the memories we’re most scared of or unsure about tend to feel the biggest, even if we’re not sure they’re true. At its core, this piece is about small childhood rebellions and the way their meaning changes over time. I hope it lingers in the mind like the taste of a misremembered candy that is sweet, blurry, and strange.

Creativity is the space where I let my worries, doubts, and daydreams become characters braver or messier than I am. It started with tiny stories in giant font and grew into longer works letting me make sense of myself and the world. Writing helps me imagine who I am becoming.
