The Face Lost In The Sand

The face lost in the sand. I first got the idea and started this piece when my creative writing class began an ekphrastic piece where we had to tell a story about a ceramic jug. The moment I saw my jug, I felt calm and at ease. It was a jug that had a color that reminded me of sand. It had a face so smooth and soothing. It also looked as if in a state of melancholy. When I saw the jug and was rambling on and on about Greek mythology, my head just clicked on an idea. I thought of a story about a nymph who was born out of the pearl clams left by the sea foam when Lady Aphrodite emerged from the waters, who was later imprisoned on that same beach, Cyprus Rock, for eternity by Lady Aphrodite herself.

Creativity to me is all about self-expression while thinking outside the box. It's a form of freedomand an art form way beyond a standard outline or an organized format. Creativity is using parts of ourminds that bring out the best and most out of everyone.
