• Artist Statement

  This portrait focuses on depicting the subconscious mind. I was inspired by the in-between moments, when we space out or let our minds wander free: those are the times when we are able to capture fleeting glimpses of the half-formed imagination lying beneath our conscious thought. For me, this manifests as bright colors and abstract shapes. To convey the chaos of unfiltered subconscious, I experimented with different mediums and textures on a bare canvas frame, drawing from saturated and bold imagery that jumps to mind naturally when I unfocus my thoughts.
