While You're Here

I've been producing music for a few years now, but singing is always something I've been somewhat insecure about. With this piece, however, instead of covering my voice with loads of effects, I chose to leave it clear and unprocessed, fitting the concept of the piece: love. Just as love has helped be gain confidence in myself, this piece is the realization of that confidence, as I experimented with songwriting and layering my own saxophone playing. The melodies throughout the piece represent the progression of holding onto love and confronting the future, through cherishing wistful memories as one is engulfed by the struggles of life, resolving to push forward, and as the main melody of the piece repeats for a final time, breaking free from the past and adapting with the future.

To me, creativity is all about using your own personality to do something new. Creative people build on their influences and combine what inspires them while adding a spark of their own ingenuity, tying in the way they view the world into their art.
