Your time to go

Emily M.

  • “Your time to go” is a duet inspired by the themes of loss, grief, and despair that accompany parting. I chose to choreograph this work with a close friend who was preparing to leave for college, using the process as a way to honor and preserve our final moments of creation together. Over several months, I explored movement both independently and in collaboration, experimenting with how physical and emotional connection can embody shared memory and separation. The choreography really draws from the nuances and dynamics of our deeply special friendship, portraying the dualities of tension and final release.

  • To me, creativity is the process of discovering the greatest extremities within movement and communication through experimentation with the infinite nuances and qualities that accompany art. It means expressing the wildest possibilities of the mind in physical space.
