When I first created these poems, I wanted the subject to be about the grief of womanhood that often accompanies changing yourself to fit others, as well as the restlessness that comes with this.

I wrote "Ascentomaniatic" as a response to seeing people give their lives to religion and let it twist them into something evil, all for the promise of eternal salvation. I decided on writing it as a sonnet so that I could use the voltas to show the descent into darkness of the people so obsessed with ascending to heaven, hence the title.

One of my greatest obstacles in life has been fighting for understanding. Whether it’s with myself or with others, about my identity or my mental health, it’s been a challenge. But I’ve suppressed all my emotions into writing.

"What Others Think" is based on my experience as a teen in today's society.

These are two poems I've written over the past couple months, I've wrote and changed these many times, changing words and scrapping fractions of them over and over. These poems attempt to share to subject of conversation, judging how it can be reduced to unnecessary sameness, or talking about anxiety around it.

Goodbye Again is a microfiction piece that explores loss, grief, and change. It reflects on the challenges of having a friend whose illness controls them, and the small things that one can do to show they matter.

“Thin” touches on the weighty topics of affection and eating. In this piece, I create a comparison between portions of food and portions of love.

These prompts were inspired by my creative writing teacher in class.

I originally wrote this poem for an English assignment called "I Am From." My class's job was to use imagery and creativity to describe our upbringings; why we are who we are today.

The submitted pieces are part of a year-long school assignment where I write a 60-page collection of creative nonfiction. The story is part of my ultimate goal to create a published chapbook.

Prior to the creation of my piece, I detested micro-fiction. I couldn't comprehend why people enjoyed the overly condensed format and I was jealous of people who made strong works with such low word count.

I Hate You is about the feeling you have when you have a crush on someone who doesn’t like you back.

I have OCD. Growing up my OCD has always changed and effected me even when I thought I had overcome it. Recently at this point in my life I felt unhappy with myself. I would constantly overfill my plate and think I could do everything.

My short fiction story is about a villain who was once a hero. When I started writing, I thought about books that I read. Inspired by morally grey characters’ complexity and that “life is not always black and white,” I decided to write a story embracing these characters since readers, including myself, usually question if these characters’ actions are “good” or “bad.”

"… breathe” and “A Simple Life” are two separate poems that both encompass the theme of life. When writing these poems, I wanted to show my own interpretations of this rather subjective topic.

My artwork is a collection of two poems that detail the experiences I and many others have had as an immigrant living in the United States of America. I've personally always felt that I didn't quite belong here in this country, a feeling that in the past years has only grown stronger as I and my people have been shunned and assaulted.

When I first started writing poetry, I always found myself writing my way back to origins, to my childhood, and to all the things that shaped me to be the person I am today. So I figured, if I was going to end up back at the start, why not take you along for the ride?

I wanted to make a perspective piece in which the reader would think one thing in the beginning but then the ending would change their thoughts from before.
