I learned this piece after learning Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2.
Claude Debussy Piano Trio in G Major, L. III: Andantino con moto allegro
Claude Debussy was an Impressionist and this piece exemplifies that style, characterized by whimsical melodies passed between instruments.
Reflets dans l'eau, L. 110 no. 1 from Images book 1
If life had to be a musical work, mine would be an impressionistic one, like Debussy’s Reflets dans l’eau. Debussy “broke” the standard compositional rules to portray flowing water.
El Canto de la Cisne Negro
Written by the Brazilian composer Villa Lobos, El Canto de la Cisne Negro (Song of the Black Swan), is a lesser know but still important contribution to the Classical Canon.
When It All Falls Down
When It All Falls Down captures the power of media influence in our society.
Sicilienne (Paradis) - Violin Performance
“Sicilienne”, traditionally attributed to Maria Theresia von Paradis, an Austrian musician who has been blind since childhood.
Madrid (by Pauline Viardot)
As a classical musician, I feel the responsibility to simultaneously respect tradition and bring something to the music that lies beyond the page.
Claude Debussy Prelude Feux d’artifice (Fireworks)
To date, Debussy’s prelude “Feux d’artifice” (Fireworks) has been the most exciting piece to perform.
Beethoven: Sonata No.7 in D Major, Op.10 No.3- I. Presto
Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata No. 7 in D Major, Op. 10 No. 3, part of the Op. 10 set dedicated to Countess Anna Margarete von Browne, reflects a period when Beethoven was gaining the artistic freedom to explore bolder ideas.
Shostakovich Cello Sonata in D Minor, Op. 40, II. Allegro
Preparing this movement of Shostakovich was very intense for me. Embodying the bitterness and irony of his sound required extensive research on his life and the suffering he endured.
Carl Vine - Piano Sonata No.1 1st mvt (excerpt)
When I play the opening of Carl Vine’s Piano Sonata No. 1, I feel like I’m stepping into a part of myself that isn’t always easy to articulate.
Canzonetta from Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto D Major
The piece I will be performing is the Canzonetta, the second movement of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto.
Howl's Moving Castle
This is my performance of Howl's Moving Castle at a Christmas Recital in 2024 held in the Oakland California Temple.
Muczynski Desperate Measures Op. 48 (Paganini Variations)
In 1817, when Paganini composed his Caprice No. 24 in A minor for violin, it quickly became an undeniably memorable tune.
Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77
This concerto is one of my favorite works for violin.
Ligeti Etude No. 13 “L'escalier du diable”
Ligeti's Etude No. 13, "L’escalier du diable," was inspired by M.C. Escher's seemingly "impossible" mathematically derived artwork, which parallels the notion of creating a relentless, impossible staircase that Ligeti wanted to uncover.
The Butterfly Lovers
Inspired by the legendary Chinese folktale The Butterfly Lovers (often called China's "Romeo and Juliet"), this performance reflects my cultural identity and genuine passion for piano.
Dvorak Cello Concerto in B minor: I. Allegro
I focused on bringing out the interesting harmonies in Dvorak's work, finding moments for the music to breathe, and highlighting the contrasting characters through different sound qualities.
