Awkward Self
This awkward self portrait represents the way I feel on the inside on some days.
Girl with Begonia
This was one of my first fully completed pieces of a portrait, my favorite thing to draw. I looked at a huge collection of references to make the girl and flowers convincing, and the artstyle I went for was made of major inspiration from Mucha's artworks and famous French painters.
Gentle Lion
This drawing of a lion wasn’t one of my original favorites, but my family greatly influenced my choice on this piece. In the beginning, I struggled on the proportions.
The Inner Child
Everyone has an inner child, hidden behind the guises of their veiling disposition.
Lamentation
This piece is meant to convey the grief of loss as the golden bird waits for colorful friend, while the others leave, knowing he will never get up.
Ziggy Bank
This is a functioning piggy bank that I hand sculpted from clay, bisque-fired, painted with underglazes and a top glaze, and finished with a high-fire.
Faded Allure
The piece conveys beauty without a face; it is an ode to the age of social media, where societal standards of “beauty” have become so widely broadcasted.
The Long Black Branches of Other People's Lives
This piece is part of a larger portfolio celebrating influential female poets and writers.
A Kid’s Future
This work is about how kids find a way to make their dreams a reality in the best way they know.
Labor of Love
At this moment in our country, undocumented immigrants are being targeted, threatened and stripped of their humanity.
In Preparation
"In Preparation" portrays how habitual rituals women perform in the mirror spiral into controlling standards to live up to in order to be seen as “enough” within a culture that relentlessly defines and polices beauty.
No Fucks to give
"No Fucks to Give" is a functional ceramic bowl that is both microwave safe and Dishwasher safe.
Through My Eyes
When visiting the Maui Marine Center, I was shocked to learn that thousands of whales are killed annually for profit.
