This piece, Refuge, acts as a reflection on escapism, indifference, and privilege – ideas I have been grappling with during my years in high school.

For this piece I covered generational trauma and the concept of plastic surgery as a graduation gift.

For years I struggled to find art that represented my experiences with my gender identity.

Balancing the chaos of senior year often made it difficult to find time to draw, yet drawing had been my refuge since I was three years old.

I simply liked the colors.

My concept for this piece came from my hopes for what my future will look like and how I am trying to shape it for myself.
